So July has always marked that middle point for me in the Summer where we're in the thick of it, I'm usually complaining about the heat and seeking shelter anywhere air conditioning can be found at full blast, and hopefully a vacation is in the works to give me a break from reality. If a vacation hasn't been planned or is still a ways off, I always look to my books to get me through the high temperatures and regret that I no longer get my summers off, all part of being an adult and all that. Not really what it's cracked up to be....this being responsible and productive bit. So I'm always on the lookout for reads that I consider mini vacations, breaks from the bump and grind of every day life. We've got fireworks, good BBQ foods, usually a few parties thrown and good reads all around!

July is looking like a good month for action and suspense thrillers if this title is anything to go by, wouldn't you say? I'm excited to see if Tucker and his friends can rise to the challenge and get down to the bottom of what's really going on with the government and their hometown.
Countdown Pick #2: The Distance Between Us by Kasie West (07/02/2013)

I was instantly reminded of John Hughes' Pretty In Pink when I came across this future release and whether or not it turns out to be similar doesn't matter because it's hooked my interest and now there's no turning back. I've got to read this one and see for myself what happens with Xander and Caymen.

I've been a fan of this classic for as long as I can remember and any time a retelling or a twist comes along involving the age old story I jump at the chance to take a look for myself. This new take by Jay sounds really interesting and I can't wait to see what she has in store for her readers this time around.

I'm curious how the relationship between Fear and Elizabeth will occur and develop and what this mysterious menace the description mentions plays into things. Not completely sure what to expect when it comes to this future release, but sometimes those are the best kinds of reads, don't you think?
