Review: Jessica Rules the Dark Side (Jessica, #2) by Beth Fantaskey

It’s one thing to find out you’re a vampire princess. It’s a whole other thing to actually rule. Newly married Jessica Packwood is having a hard enough time feeling regal with her husband, Lucius, at her side. But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. Determined to clear her husband’s name, Jessica launches into a full-scale investigation, but hallucinations and nightmares of betrayal keep getting in her way. Jessica knows that with no blood to drink, Lucius’s time is running out. Can she figure out who the real killer is—and whom she can trust—before it’s too late?

I just think this series is nothing but fun and enjoyment ripe for the taking. If you've read any of Fantaskey's other work and enjoyed yourself, than you can rest assured that you'll feel the same after reading the most recent installment in her Jessica series. Fantaskey has created such an interesting world of Vampires and their politics with this series that it's hard to resist...and who would want to?

While Jessica and Lucius are of course front and center once again, we get a little more insight into the other characters that were in the background so to speak the last time around. Jessica's best friend Mindy and Lucius' best man are key players this go around. I was thrilled with this new development and was excited to get more information about not only these side players, but with their involvement, readers get more detail regarding Lucius' upbringing and what all shaped him into the man/vampire he is today. With murder and intrigue playing key parts in this installment, the thrilling ride will leave readers wondering how things can possibly work out for these two future members of vampire royalty. Will the real murdered be discovered? Will it be in time? How will Jessica cope without being able to lean on Lucius like she has always done in the past? All questions that were racing through my mind while I was reading this title and thankfully, Fantaskey took pity on her readers and was able to answer these questions and more with this installment.

Hopefully Fantaskey isn't done with this series and has planned a few more installments to add to her collection because I for one, am not finished with these great characters and this fun and intense world she's cooked up.

I gave Jessica Rules the Dark Side (Jessica, #2) 3 shamrocks!!!
